He had an insatiable love of travel. He was focused and driven applying his intellectual curiosity to his work as he did the world around him. He set the standard for those around him but did so with a wonderfully human and dry witty sense of humor. It's been nearly 25 years since we served together but the impression he left on me allows me to hear the sound of his voice in crystal clarity to this moment. It was an honor to serve with him. He was a friend of a good friend that is home. I just wanted to take this moment to thank him and his family for keeping us safe. I know there are a lot of opinions on war etc. call it what you want - conflict war preserving freedom - someone has to do it. Those who volunteer to go do this are serving a greater purpose. Thank you for ensuring that I wake up with water, food, fuel, electricity, freedom to be, freedom to move, and most important safe from attack. He was very excited about the opportunity and his face lit up with excitement. He worked right down the hall from me And would often times came down to ask questions about what to expect.
