Every year the Blackhorse Family (11th ACR unit) post tributes to him and thank him for his sacrifice, mostly on Facebook we get together to talk about that infectious smile or great lessons he taught us. He was a brave and outstanding Soldier and we all WILL NEVER FORGET HIM. My prayers continue to go to his family that they know that their Angel is an Angel for hundreds of others. Love and miss you Brother. T. We were both SSGs in Dexheim, Germany with 123rd MSB from 1996-1999. We hit it off instantly as we competed against each other in everything. I loved this Brother because he always maintained a positive outlook - besides how could you not like that smile. One of my fondest memories together with Randy was when we added him to our flag football team and went on to win the USAREUR championship that year (1998). He was always encouraging the team and me - this was an awesome time and I got to spend a lot of time talking and laughing with him. My heart goes out to the Collins family, especially the wife and children. You have done a wonderful job memorializing Randy - please know that he will never be forgotten!!!! Irwin with SFC Collins( Jedi 1) 1999-2003. We came to support Platoon together and even served under him as my Newly promoted Platoon sergeant. I also remember the cadences he called on the runs, the BBQ'S and bonfires we had in the field on monthly rotations Randy was an awesome down to earth guy, Great soldier and mentor. Just thinking about you brother as I sit here in Long Beach waiting to go to work . you'll never be forgotten, thank you for your sacrifice. Fri, 06 Feb 2015 06:27:02 -0800 SGT D. I remember one long night of CQ with him. And I still remember exactly where I was in Taji when I heard he had been hit. Collins was a special breed, and one of a small few NCOs that really impacted my life. I was just sitting up tonight pondering and I thought of the Jedi again. What I wouldn't give for one more run with him! It's been 5years since he passed. Please be assured that there will be a resurrection. Jehovah the God of comfort promised that at (John 5:28, 29)"...he will call and all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out.." What a joyous occassion that will be! We coached youth baseball and basketball together. Collins was well respected by the kids so much so that we couldnt practice without him. I had ask him to bring Jasmine with him se we could pratice. We won the championship in both sports because of Collins love for kids. He kept them smiling from ear to ear and all of them admired him even my own kids. Randy was a true professional! We did a furneral detail together and Randy did such a great job that the family tried to pay us with a large check that we couldnt take. I will never forget that he took such great pride in work burying a World 2 vet. He cared about his family and would always talk about them. We served at Fort Ord andFort Drum together. Randy impacted so many people evrywhere he went.
