Travon was a good, loving, supportive Giant that tried his best in this life and did what he truly believed in... that smile though... could lighten up the darkest day... Look down upon us down here dear Travon... you are missed... you have been missed...keep a smile on Angels' faces up there just by showing that unbelievable smile God blessed you with. Gone but not forgotten Travon. May your soul rest in peace dear Giant.

T.J. was a wonderful person who truly had a heart of gold. I can remember his big smile, contagious laugh and his gentle soul. I went to school with T.J. so I haven't seen him in over 20+ years. I think of him often he was a wonderful person and I can never repay him for his sacrifice for me and my family. I just wanted to say "Thank You T.J."

I served with Travon, or "Big J" as we all called him, in Afghanistan. I was a cherry (new guy) when the unit came back from Iraq. Big J always made me feel welcome and a part of the combat wombat family. He always had a big smile and was always in a good mood. I will never forget our Halo matches! I love you buddy, I miss you, you will never be forgotten.

TJ and I were friends for years, from junior high and all throughout high school he was my skating buddy.. We would spend almost every weekend at the roller rink. Over the years I have thought of him often, and this morning after talking to a friend I recently reconnected with, I found out about his untimely passing. I pray for his family, that he always watch over them. And I hope he knows how much his friendship really meant to me.. R.I.P <3 Travon (TJ) Johnson

To Family and Friends of: Travon T. Johnson Please accept my deepest sympathy. Revelation 21:3-5; Luke 23:43; John 5:28,29; 2 Corinthians 4:18 Ps. 55; John 3:16 Travon gave his life for something he believed in. Please know that his life was not taken in vain. For God Son, Jesus Christ, also, gave his life so we may have life in a better world. Rejoice for God Tent is with man, and himself resides with them. No more will there be pain or crying. No sorrow, No more dying, for God has said "I'm making all things new," these words are faithful and true. Soon this earth will be all man's delight. A promised paradise God has promised by means of Christ. He will remove death, tears and pain. Soon here on earth as God has purposed, His Son will cause the dead to rise. Thus it will be as Jesus promised. You'll be with me in Paradise. A Paradise, the earth will be, with eyes of faith, this we can see. This promised Christ shall soon fulfill, for he delights to do God's Will. I hope that these few words from the Bible has brought hope and comfort.

Travon was a Machine Gunner in my squad in OIF I. He always kept a positive outlook and worked as hard as he could. he was the Platoon's Javelin expert, and taught classes to get everyone up to speed on the anti armor weapon. I remember going to his wedding in Vicenza, the only time I wore class As in public in Italy. And I remember the reception and how much fun we had. I left the 173d not long after that, and I was terribly sorry to later hear he had been killed. I'll always have fond memories of him and remember him as an excellent man and role model.

Still after 5 years and now as passing grandma this it very hard to still dear with it a hole in my heart! I No he told me he did want he wanted to and for his country but this is still so hard!! I think about it all time! Please lord help be get thru this and now passing of grandma. I remember grandma telling me he wasnt to pass before me but now there in heaven together! I love you both and miss you as well very much! God bless!!

I am the mother of Cpl Jon-Luke Bateman. When my son arrived home at Nellis the Presidant of the United States was landing at Las Vegas Airport at the same time my son was landing. Not to seem childish or anything, but where was my Presidant to offer is condolences for the loss of my son? Would it have been too much for him to stop by the funeral on Friday to tell me how sorry he was that my son gave his life for his country trying to save another Marine? I understand this is an election year and he is very busy, but he was in town and it would not have hurt him to just stop by for a few moments to say thank you for your service young man and sorry for your loss Mrs. Allen. It only showed me that our Presidant doesn't care one ounce about our military or their families. We need a President that has served in the military so they know to honor the fallen and wounded. Yes Presidant Obama, I am hurt that you didn't care enough to come and offer your condolences to a grieving mother how just lost her son and you were in the same town when my son arrived and you were in town when we had is viewing and funeral. It would have been the least you could have done for one who is fighting for our country.
