I am an Air Force Veteran serving as the Coordinator of Veterans Services at Mt. San Jacinto Community College. We would like to honor Mary's service by including her on a mural we plan to paint outside our Veterans Resource Center at our San Jacinto campus. Can someone please connect me with her parents her ask them to contact me at mmoncada@msjc.edu. Thank you! It is a shame that she is not here with us today but we will be with her someday. When we do meet Mary, I'm sure that it will be amazing. I look forward to it! She was a great soldier and I was not happy when she said she was going on active duty. Good young soldiers like her are hard to find. But I understood spending six years on active duty myself. Those who knew her miss her in Irvine. She was definitely one of the kindest, well meaning, hardest working soldiers we had out there. Until her death she left behind nothing but positive memories. I expect that will be a rough day. Everyone in our unit misses her bright smile and laugh. She would talk about the friendly rivalry she and her father had, saying he was a damn good Marine and that she was going to be a damn good Soldier. And yes, she was a damn good Soldier as well as a friend. Fri, 12 Mar 2010 09:58:48 -0800
