I learned of Gabe's death by reading a list of Californian's lost in Operation Enduring Freedom. When he was in my class he had a mohawk haircut, which stood out in a rather conventional class. I overlooked this fashion statement, because I found out Gabe was a very sensitive, intelligent young man. I enjoyed having him in my class, and knew he would go far in life. My sympathy goes out to his family.
