What great teammate and friend he was. Though he was quiet to most of the guys I will remember the conversations we would have in the outfield. My son is a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marines and has done two tours in Iraq. We thank you Jose, from the bottom of our hearts from the ultimate sacrifice that you have done for the love of this great country. We are a family of immigrants from Mexico also and came here to find a better life. Your sacrifice and that of your family is priceless. We live in Norwalk also and know that God has a special place for Marines. Our highest respect and condolences to your family for what you have done for our freedom. God bless you and both your families; the Rodriguez and the Marine Corps! I did not know Jose, but I grew up in Norwalk and attended John Glenn H.S and even though I did not know Jose its makes me sad to know someone so young died for our country. I talked to him the night before he pass away. His family is in my prayers. You were so quiet and soft spoken. It took you about a year, then you fit right in with all the other students. I remember your intelligence and great sense of humor. Students like you make teaching worthwhile for teachers like me. I was more than a little proud seeing you go from knowing almost no English, to graduating with honors in a span of about three years. Your friends called you by your nickname, "Camaney." Camaney was a Mexican comedian known for being a ladies man and for being very funny. Your two younger sisters and your parents were very proud of you when you joined the armed services. You carried the hopes and dreams of your family. It makes me more than a little sad when I think of them and I think what you could have been. I'll always remember you.
