My friend and companion. I will never forget him and he was a brave man. His death is so annoying. Sat, 22 Jul 2017 10:49:54 -0700 A dear friend on January 27, 2016 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/alex-oceguera/#c183108 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/alex-oceguera/#c183108 Long time no see. I miss you, I care for you even though I know you're gone. I want to be able to at least talk to you, and this is how. I love you so much... at one point I thought that you abandoned me, but in reality you made my life a hell of a lot better. I'll never forget you, you're my hero, my brother, and my leader. As I sit here writing this, I fight back the tears that try to escape everytime I see or hear your name. Words can't describe how much our times together at Fort Drum and in Afghanistan meant to me. Our many meals at Dennys, walks through several feet of snow because we were too cheap to pay for a cab, and our last meal at Red Lobster before we left for overseas. The memories are numerous and you will forever be in my heart. It was a pleasure being your roommate, friend, and brother during our time together in the 10th Mtn. Division. Love you brother. See you again someday. Wish I could of said bye. May u rest in peace Thu, 11 Dec 2014 08:42:38 -0800 SGM Ornelas on November 5, 2014 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/alex-oceguera/#c170510 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/alex-oceguera/#c170510 I first met Alex in mid 2005 soon after I had served in Iraq for two years. Once he found out that I was a combat soldier, he would ask me many questions about the service. He was motivated and full of life and curious about just being there. “Well” we don’t make them like that any more (my respect). I learned that he had joined the army through a family member, soon after I learned he had passed on. As hard-core as I claimed to be, I took several days off everything. His personality was one I remembered as a young man. My dear friend I will see you there. Wed, 05 Nov 2014 06:41:15 -0800 anonymous on June 14, 2014 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/alex-oceguera/#c161342 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/alex-oceguera/#c161342 Alex, I found myself thinking of you today, and I can't help but miss you. I have so many memories of you I will never forget. Many of them involve us in 6th period art class, always fighting; you were the older reckless and irresponsible guy, and I was the younger girl always fighting with you telling you to stop doing dumb things. People in that class said we always fought like a married couple. But that is just what made us very close friends. I miss you so much, but I know you are resting in peace now. Te quiero.
