We were on the same ship USS Mount Vernon on a deployment right before the war kicked off. I remember always seeing him with a smile on his face, huge stunning smile that always lit up the room. Our howitzers (cannons) were located near the LAR vehicles where we would always run into each other while we did maintenance on our equipment, and we would always stand around telling jokes, clowning around, and talking smack about how bad we Marines had it compared to the spoiled navy, lol, just things Marines typically did and said on any given day. I was shocked and couldn’t believe the news when I heard an LAR Marine he passed from his unit. Jesus was the first one that came to mind and I broke down. Although we were in different units, I truly felt his loss and cried like no other because I knew he had a baby and wife, he had the whole world ahead of him. We never had the chance to hangout when we got back home like we had planned to do :( Rest easy brother. We love you and will always keep you in our hearts. Sgt E. I would always see his memorial and always wonder who he was and his service in the USMC. I’m so glad to have had a brave soldier like Jesus defend us with courage and honor. The fact is as a Veteran from OIF and OEF I am grateful for every immigrant such as Jesus who volunteered to serve for a country they were not a citizen of. He made a sacrifice as does his family. He truly is an American Hero. God bless. Fri, 12 Jan 2018 06:23:55 -0800 J. Jesus' mother is my godmother and I feel really sorry for her loss even up to this day. My mother used to tell me how painful and devastating it was. I am grateful for his service, we will always remember you, Jesus. From a U.S. Army soldier, rest in peace to a brother in arms. Someday soon, our son will read this and see what a great man his father was. Although it breaks my heart that Jesus is no longer with us, (for he was such a lovable and caring person), I know he is with God looking down at us from heaven. We miss him tremendously and forevermore will he be in our hearts. We love him then, we love him now, and we will love him always. Tue, 26 Oct 2010 12:02:04 -0700
