He showed me how to have fun and smile. He had a nickname of Wild Bill because he would always be the life of the party. We often talked about exploring the world and making ddocumentaries. He is one of a kind and I wish I had been able to spend more time with him. Too many memories. I still have old photos of us, college drawings, a tape cassette you recorded with a msg for me many years ago, & the most heartbreaking,A letter from you that I received after you passed :'( You were my first luv, & you will always be a part of me. Years have passed and it still feels like yesterday when I got the news. I'm forever proud of you , for never quitting on your goal, for serving our country selflessly, for being the hero everyone knew you could be. So much I never got to tell you, but you had to know above all, that I loved you. Always will. Til we meet again in The Lords presence... <3 Thu, 20 Mar 2014 09:14:15 -0700 Wendell Frohwein on February 15, 2013 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/william-i-salazar/#c114408 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/william-i-salazar/#c114408 Hey bro happy birthday. After 8 months of being best friends we got engaged and spent two years together. I was older than him and he wanted to give up his dreams of the military and having children just to be with me. I knew he would later resent me if he gave up on his dreams so I had to set him free. He ended up right where he belonged, living his dream of being in the Military and having a family of his own. Leon was one of the sweetest, most sincere people I have ever known in my life. I have thought of him often and fondly over the years and I am glad he had the chance to live his dreams...... I didn't know Leon, but I'm sure he was a nice person. That was such a terrible way to die. In the Bible Psalms 46:9 says: "He is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth." And Revelation 21:4 say: "He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." This gives us a wonderful hope for the future. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and when you see one of us we will be more than happy to answere any questions you may have from the Bible. May peace and comfort be with you. We worked in the youth group at our church when he was in high school. We have kept up on his life through the years, and have prayed for him, as he served our country in harms way, as he married is wife, Mary, and had 2 children. We are thankful for this young man's faithfulness to serve our country and give the ultimate sacrifice. He was a faithful soldier and christian man and will be greatly missed. We thank the Lord we know he is in heaven, because he trusted Christ as his Saviour many years ago. The Bible says in Psalm 116:15, "Precious is the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Our sincere condolenses go out to the family, his father, Leon Sr., his mother, Teresa, his wife, Mary and their two sons, and also his three sisters. We are praying, especially, for Mary, also at this time and the baby she is carrying. May God give you grace and comfort as you raise your children for the Lord. Know we are praying for you. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with each of you, at this time. Love, Ron & Lisa Knudson Fri, 05 Aug 2011 08:59:17 -0700
