I knew you as a young man playing touch football on the Burney elementary playground. You were always a kind person, even for those few young years where I had the pleasure of knowing you. You went on to become a hero, and lost your life helping people all the way across the world. I think of you often as I age, and I look forward to the day that I can match that young image in my memory with the reality of your face in heaven, Until we meet again, Tim Wed, 08 Jun 2016 09:40:54 -0700 Christopher "Donut" Windisch (former Major USMC) on May 19, 2014 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/matthew-w-bancroft/#c154837 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/matthew-w-bancroft/#c154837 I knew Matt well as we worked together at MAG-11. l looked up to Matt because he was so completely content, easy-going and sure of who he was. He'd stop by my office often and we would chat and joke around for long periods; seemed like we had a lot in common. He'd tease me about something and I'd kid him about having "15" kids! And I clearly remember receiving the absolutely shocking news and attending the standing-room-only memorial service in the enormous base auditorium. To this day I keep the memorial brochure among my Marine Corps keepsakes - Matt your were a great guy and you are not forgotten! -Donut Mon, 19 May 2014 12:01:21 -0700 Imari Bracy on March 25, 2013 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/california-based/paris-s-pough/#c117262 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/california-based/paris-s-pough/#c117262 To the friends and family of Paris I would like to share my deepest condolences to you I know this must be a difficult time. I hope that you can take comfort in God's promise at Revelation 21:4 And he will wipe every tear from their eyes and death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away. And also at John 5:28,29 Do marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs and come out Mon, 25 Mar 2013 07:43:01 -0700 Muriel Mahan on March 2, 2012 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/california-based/paris-s-pough/#c70875 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/california-based/paris-s-pough/#c70875 I would like to extend my condolences to Paris's family and friends I didn't know him but, I'm sure he was a nice young man. In the Bible at Revelation 21:4 it gives us a wonderful hope for the future. It say: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither mouring nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former thing have passed away. Jesus died for our sins giving us that wonderful hope. So, I hope you have peace and comfort. RIP Fri, 31 Dec 2010 03:15:02 -0800 Chris and Millie Mimiaga on January 10, 2010 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/matthew-w-bancroft/#c20538 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/matthew-w-bancroft/#c20538 Dearest Matt, This weekend we celebrated 2 birthdays, Monsoons 64th, and John Baca 61, a Medal of Honor reciepient. We had your beautiful wife and precious Maddie here to be with us. Many Patriot guard riders, veterans and friends came together. One of them, "No Chute" pulled up in with a sound trailer with 100 flags, USMC, Air Force, Navy, Army, state flags, were flying in the air on this trailer and then came the music!! "No Chute" opened his truck door and music from the 60's played. We ate so much food, Maddie and Millie my daughter, played dress-up with make-up till 3 AM! And your wife, sharing her stories, she is so much fun to listen to..oh how I know you are missing them, and they too are missing you. She is amazing and Maddie has the most beautiful, compassionate personality. They stayed the night and I think she could have chatted all night but we are older and we had to get to bed. But she was up bright and early and we just picked up where we left off. She is so much fun and I know we will all be friends forever. We did not know that 9 January was the date you were taken from us and it was ackward hearing this from Mary Ellen. Some speeches were made towards the end of the night, one on your behalf by myself. I wanted everyone in the room to know about you and to let Maddie know that all the people in the room were her strongest supporters and if they ever needed anything, we are here for them. Although Maddie is so young, it is important that she be able to say, "for as long as I can remember, people have surrounded us with love and support"....that will be true for her life. You are an American Hero and a treasure, we honor you with the greatest respect for your sacrafice to our Country and with that we will take very good care your your greatest treasures, Maddie and Mary Ellen.
