I had the opportunity to talk with her in passing, the week before she passed. As a leader of Marines, I introduced myself and I talked with her about the deployment, what and how she was doing, how her parents felt about her being here (Iraq). I inquired to make sure she was writing or calling home. She was a very personable and motivated young Marine affirmed she was proud to be serving, her parents had concerns, as all parents do, but were very proud of her!
