They flew missions together and my brother had many fond memories with Mike. My brother was promoted in the Navy last year and the most touching part of the ceremony was the moment of silence he asked for in memory of Mike. Be thou at peace! You're not forgotten Sat, 27 May 2017 12:44:39 -0700 Pam Horan on May 26, 2017 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/michael-e-tayaotao/#c190619 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/michael-e-tayaotao/#c190619 I went to Jr high and part of high school with Mike. I will never forget his wonderful cheeky smile, his boyish joy in the things he liked and his barely there mustash he sported. Mike we miss you and thank you for your service! He was a great Crew Chief and a dependable brother. I was shocked and sadden to hear of his passing, having not known that he cross decked to EOD. He will be forever missed. Semper Fi and God bless. I was a part of 1st Battalion 3rd Marines and apart of the security for mikey and the EOD team. I had only knew Mikey for a few months the night that the event occurred. We all had a hard time taking in our loss. Mikey was energetic, fun and very intelligent! Our entire security team which consisted of 15 Marines had remembrance bracelets made before we left Iraq. His fun spirit still lives with me and he will always be remembered. I was in QA at the time. Right before the war, when we got to Ali Al Salem Air Base with the "Screw Crew" in 2003, every morning when I saw him in the "shaving pit", He loved to sing his favorite Clash song called "Rock the Casbah".
