I remember countless defensive huddles in HS football with you as we were just having fun doing what we loved. I remember going to watch "the program" movie before we played our cif championship game. I remember your courage and fire that you had as we played. I however was not with you when you were serving our country making us proud and being a great leader. I know you were the best, just like you were on our field. I know you were looking after those younger soldiers that day. I thank you for that, We all thank you for that. You are my hero for what you did. I hope you rest in peace. You are greatly missed but NEVER forgotten my man. Until we meet again brotha. He was my first team leader in C co. in 2003. Way too many surreal memories than I could ever put down here. He was one of the few people I have ever known who could challenge you with his drive and attitude without even trying. Such a loss to the Army. He was bigger than life. Still is. Grochowiak my 1st Team Leader as a Squad leader. One of if not the Best Team Leader I ever had the privilege to have while I was in C Co 2-504th PIR. Never was there a moment when he wasn't the 1st one to jump or do what had to be done Drive, Motivation, pure Desire to do whatever was necessary to accomplish any task hands down a "SOLDIER" true Warrior blood pumped in his veins... Rest in Peace My Brother you will be missed. He was respected and well liked in our company. He was a great paratrooper who was tough, energetic and armed with a great sense of humor. You died while looking out for the well-being of your brothers. You are, and forever will be, a hero! Always cracked me up in the field as he was the first to be up and full of energy; running around camp while everyone was barely awake. I have never met a more influential person in my life. Everyone wanted to be him and everyone looked up to his leadership. Proud to have served with you brother. Rest in Peace. When I asked him how he could afford all of them he said: "Ryan, life is too short to not have fun and have all you want, besides, none of this stuff is going with me when I die."
