He was my senior marine in 1/3 Charlie company Kaneohe Bay Hawaii. With his wisdom skill and leadership I survived one of the bloodiest urban combat battles in Marine Corps history. He was a great man that left us too soon. He will forever be remembered and will always live in my heart!! See you in Heaven ----- Magic

Well, it's been 2 years since you've been gone and I know it's still in the back of a lot of people's minds just like it had happened yesterday.. Especially Rox. She has come such a long way, you'd be so happy.. I know she misses you so much.. But she's knows that you're in a good place and you died doing what you loved, fighting for this country. I had the honor of being Del's platoon leader for 8 months up until deployment. Many of the young Soldiers, myself included, owe their sanity during the train-up and safety during deployment to him. He was a brilliant teacher and natural role model and leader. The De la Pena's have my ever-lasting gratitude for raising this man. He was a god-send when others needed him most. I was asked to speak at his memorial in-country and could not do it at the time. I apologize to his family that it took me a year to do this...

pues es muy triste por que era una chavo increible, yo no lo conoci y si fue asi ni me acuerdo pero por lo que escucho de platicas era un gran hombre en un cuerpo pequeño; pero en fin ahora lo tenemos en el cielo para que nos cuide a todos; que mala suerteque no tuve la oportunidad de conocerlo creo que hubiera aprendido muchas de el para ser mejor persona. Yo se que esta en unlugar lleno de paz donde no hay guerras ni ningun mal el ya esta el paraiso

yo no te pude conocer pero por lo ke me kuentan se ke ereaz un super chavo yo a toda la gente ke forma parte de mi familia la kiero aunke no la conozca se ke donde estes tu estas feliz por todo lo ke hiciste durante tu vida recuerda ke aqui en la tierra nunca te vamos a olvida y espero que tu no nos olvides por favor siempre cuidanos. esau morira cuando ya nadie lo recuerde asi que si queremos que siga vivo hay que reordarlo dia con dia y hay que pensar que solo esta de viaje y que algun dia lo volveremos a encontrar para reirnos de todo =) siempre sonrie y nunca llores es muy feo cuando naces lloras, y el mundo rie, vive de tal manera que cuando mueras rias y el mundo llore. =) =(

I don't know him, but i graduated from La Puente high. My condolences goes out to his loved ones. i am damn proud of all the soldiers that have passed fighting and the ones who still are fighting for this country..America is lucky to have an individual like you brother ivan!!
