I'd only met you but a few weeks before when you joined us at the FOB. The night before mission we sat around a fire with goat steak grilling, thanks to Omar, talking s**t about where we were all from. I will never forget the moment you left us brother, I think about every day. C-CO will never forget you. I'm proud to have known him. I could tell early on that he had a good soul and it breaks my heart for his family. Rest in peace my brother. Thu, 19 Nov 2015 09:02:12 -0800 Clint R. Not a day goes by that I do not thank God for giving me the privilege of meeting with and working with you. You were always the proud father, great policeman and superior Airborne soldier others will try to emulate. Your humility, compassion, patriotism and honor is what we write military doctrine about. You had an insatiable appetite to learn and develop professionally both a as a seasoned cop and paratrooper. In this celebration of our independence, we will never forget the ultimate sacrifice you gave Rico! You will be missed by this U.S. Army Sergeant Major forever. I wish you Godspeed and peace and please keep our future meeting place secure and safe. With your huge smile I am sure you have won over the local saints and they feed of your hand mijo. Rest in peace Rico, SGM Juan C Serrato Sat, 05 Jul 2014 01:01:46 -0700 fernando on May 10, 2013 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/federico-g-borjas/#c119710 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/federico-g-borjas/#c119710 I met you many years ago my friend, not in the military or in the academy but in a spanish classroom. We instantly became friends and continued to keep in contact. I stayed with Rico during training classes in San Diego, and he and Yvette stayed at my house on a few occasions while they visited the LA area. I last saw Rico in June of 2008 when he was in the San Diego PD Honor Guard at a fallen officer benefit motorcycle ride. At that time, Rico told me he was going to be deployed over seas. That was the last time I saw him. A few days ago, while having a random conversation with a San Diego police officer, I learned of Rico's passing. I wish I could have been there to honor Rico and his family at the funeral. Rico was a true brother and a fine American. He will forever be in my heart and on my mind.
