He's been the best father and the one who accepted me as his daughter. I couldn't be happier knowing my father was a true man, a guy with a good heart and a pure soul. I've heard so many stories about him. I nearly cry every day now and every time I hug this little teddy he gave me. I hold onto everything he ever gave me... I wish I knew him longer. I wish he'd still be here... We all miss you... There's no day we don't. You'll always live in our memories. When we went back to Baghdad in 2006, I had the honor of sitting next to him on the C-17 from Kuwait to Baghdad. During our time in Iraq, I had the privilege of talking to him as a friend and he would always make sure our equipment was good to go. I will say this about Gonzo, he was one of the most dedicated and thoughtful men that I knew. You are always remembered, Sergeant (promotable), you will never be forgotten. As I lay here thinking of him, I cry. It's been years since it's happened but the wound feels fresh every time I think about it. He was the best big brother anyone could ask for. He was the greatest man I knew and am proud of him very much. I wish he was around to see his 5 year old niece, get to know my wonderful girlfriend. I will always love and miss him. I obliged thinking maybe he wanted friends in the States. After chatting for 3 months, I discovered I was not chatting with the soldier but someone pretending to be him. I have sought his true identity for two years. A few weeks ago I found Staff Sgt. Felix's picture on Faces of the Fallen. His image and the picture presented to me is so close that my heart stopped. I have no way of knowing of course for sure they are one and the same but I want to post this. Even though I never really knew Felix, I came to know his face. The feelings I have inside of me are as real as if I did. He is a hero and I am happy to see he had family and friends that loved him dearly. I will always remember his face. May he Rest In Peace with our Lord. I found out recently of his passing yet it feels like he is still among us. That is indicative of how powerful his character and personality is. He touched every one that knew him. It was truly an honor to know the Soldier, the Man, and call him Friend. Sun, 03 Jan 2010 07:15:25 -0800
