Every year seems to grow more and more difficult to deal with the world on emotionally high days of remembrance, such as today, Veterans' Day. Those of us that knew you have had our lives enriched, and we shall never allow your memory or the experiences we shared to fade into nothingness. I got married two weeks ago. It may sound weird, but I thought about you briefly before the ceremony. I realized that your husband has had to deal with the most difficult event life can toss at us. I hope your spirit has found peace and has been helping your husband's mind and spirit to sleep easier and move forward in life. Thank you, Hannah, for your inspiration, your service, but more importantly for your friendship. At least not in a civilized country of the Western world. I simply can't believe that such a sweet young girl, so full of life, died like that. I didn't know you, but I'm disgusted that someone would leave you in the road like that after they hit you. He will be living with what he did for the rest of his life. My thoughts are with your son, husband, friends, soldiers and family. I want to express compassion with families who have suffered irreparable losses.May God Bless America and American soldiers.Best regards from Serbia Thu, 14 Jun 2012 04:47:17 -0700 CL Seitler on December 15, 2011 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/hannah-l-gunterman-mckinney/#c64384 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/hannah-l-gunterman-mckinney/#c64384 I remember not too long before you were killed, we were posted in a tower for duty. We sat there nearly falling asleep when you came up with the idea to make "finger-staches." I had no idea what you were talking about, but when you 'forced' me to draw a mustache on my finger and pretend to be someone else, the day started passing so much quicker. It was hot, really hot, but your distraction made the day bearable. I will never forget you Gunterman. That's the name we all knew you by over there... I didn't even know you were married and had a kid until after you passed away. I swore that I would make sure that I never lost my spirit, just like you never lost yours. You had a huge impact on me personally, and I am grateful that I had the privilege of serving with you AND being your friend. It's been over 5 years, and it still feels like yesterday. Lewis. She had such a big heart. Always knew how to make me laugh even when I didnt feel like it. She once told me she didnt know what to wear to work that day knowing we didnt have a choice other than our uniform! I still miss you to this day Leah! He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew you would never On earth get well again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, He closed your weary eyelids And wispered, "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone Part of us went with you The day God called you home. I thank Hannah and her family for her service to our country, I'm so sorry for the loss. She's a hero in my book, thank you for raising such a wonderful daughter who would want to help the world become a better place for me, my very young daughter and all americans!
