https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/justin-a-verdeja/#c123489My condolences to the Verdeja family. Please take comfort in the assured hope of the resurrection (John 5:28) Justin, along with all those who have lost their lives will awaken from their sleep to a peaceful earth. Our heavenly father Jehovah God has promised...all wars will cease to the extremity of the earth(Psalms 46:9) What a wonderful time that

https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/california-based/shawn-p-martin/#c121968Memories of Shawn, my son-in-law, abound. He was bigger than life itself. He was so loved by his wife's family. We know that he died doing what he was passionate about, but not a day goes by without missing him. It's been almost 6 years- years that seem like just yesterday as much as forever. Miss you greatly, Shawn. Love you forever!Sat, 08 Jun 2013 05:17:32 -0700V. Munoz on May 24, 2013

https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/justin-a-verdeja/#c105405Justin Verdeja was my team mate, class mate, co-worker and one of the best friends I have ever had. When it came to the title of "Big Brother," he truly set the standard. Truly, one-of-a-kind. The times I had shared with him are ones that I will always cherish and never forget. Many years have gone by since his passing, but still his courage and displays of heart still warm my heart all the time. For that man to knowingly face the dangers he did over there... and now here I am, enjoying the freedom of typing this right now... thank you, Justin. We will always have those party bus chauffeured dances... blocking for your speedy, arm slinging ass... racing home together in your del Sol after working long nights at the Rose... side by side with you, David, and 'Kadia... "serenading" auditoriums full of girls... to now sharing that great value of family, you always preached about, with my daughters. Dude, I know you're watching over us when my youngest enjoys her peaches cold. Love you & miss you, carnal. -Fonzo Sun, 13 Jan 2013 07:13:22 -0800Mayra Gomez on July 22, 2011

https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/justin-a-verdeja/#c55233Justin was a sweet, wonderful, amazing, patient, caring, and loving boy. He was always so patient when Amanda and Mel would play with him by pulling his hair, pinching his nose, and squeezing his cheeks. He was their big brother. We carry you in our hearts. Justin, you are always with us. Fri, 22 Jul 2011 09:56:48 -0700Martin on June 6, 2011

Even though his time with us was short, he has left one of the greatest impressions in the lives of all those he touched. He is a true hero. We love you and in our hearts you will forever be. RIP
