My son. I watched you grow from a boy into a man. So many days I spent with your teachers as they told me what a class clown you were, and how distracting you were. You jumping off the couch onto the coffee table, with high karate kicks to Power Rangers. One of my fondest memories of you was when you were in 4th grade, we were trick or treating. I was holding your hand (like I had always done for years). You looked up at me and said "Mom? Can I walk ahead of you this time? Y'know, my friends and all." I didn't want to let go, but I knew you would be miserable if I didn't. So I did. Just one more day to hold your hand would be heaven. I feel you in my heart, and all around me. I thank you for all you have taught me. I believe I am a great mother... because of you. I love you. Bernie and DJ raised an incredible son/stepson and I will will forever be sad that I didn't get to know the man you became. Thank you for your sacrifice and service. You will always be in my heart. For your sacrifice, words do little to describe our sincere gratitude. However, There is a hope for a future where such wonderful people will not have to die in the wars of the world. ISAIAH 2:4 And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore....REV 21:3,4-"death will be no more" Fri, 30 Mar 2012 01:12:48 -0700 pamela reid on February 3, 2012 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/kevin-j-hilaman/#c68487 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/kevin-j-hilaman/#c68487 I just want to thank my ex husband Bernie for raising such an amazing son. I want his family, friends, and anyone who sees this to know that Kevin was looked up to by every man in the platoon, and was an inspiration to us all. Hilarious, compassionate, and thoughtful, Kevin died repulsing the enemy from a nearby hillside, and he saved others' lives by what he did that day. We in 3rd platoon think of and miss him every day, and we owe him everything.
