I felt compelled to write to you this Memorial Day - your son's story and life was very special and meaningful. Even to this day. Thinking of your family today, Jane Tue, 29 May 2018 07:10:23 -0700 Tiffany Montgomery on May 26, 2017 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/matthew-c-ferrara/#c190606 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/matthew-c-ferrara/#c190606 This weekend, as we approach Memorial Day, I'm remembering Matt. He was a friend of mine at USMA, and actually my figure skating partner. Of all things, huh? We had such a great time in that class, and he was so wonderful and fun. I was sad to hear how we'd lost him but honored by the sacrifice that he made. Such a beautiful face that I had to come on this page. and know more about you. Your stare, your face...so compelling. My heart slammed with sorrow when I saw the death notice. You are more than a beautiful face, you are a hero of this nation, the good guy. Your mom, your dad, siblings, the girl you loved, your kids if you had any - I cry for them all. I know you are in peace and in heaven. I pray for your family and friends to get some peace as well, because they have to live with not having you anymore in this lifetime. I am thankful and proud of you that you have served this country. Your country men and women owe it to you to live to our full potential, and for the good of the world, because you have sacrificed your life for us. Thank you again. I came across the Seaside Heroes Park dedicated to you and two other soldiers from Torrance. I was brought to tears reading about the fallen soldiers and hope the family is doing ok. My brother was in Afghan last year as a Marine and I know all too well the dangers and sacrifices the soldiers and their families make. Thank you for your service and bravery. May you rest in peace and god bless the loved ones left behind. He had the rare gift of being unimpressed by his many gifts. Accustomed to getting "A's", he drew "B's" on his first two essays. He didn't care so much about the grades as wonder how to do better. I told him that he was bright as any, that was clear, and that he should write what he thinks. "Oh," he said, "no one's ever asked me to do that." Thereafter, I learned from him each time he wrote. I had been fixing fence on our ranch in Nebraska the day I heard his name on the evening news. It was a sad day. Death is not easy to except. I didn't know Zachary, but I'm sure he was a nice person. The Bible speaks about Almighty God will make all war to end. As a matter fact Psalms 46:9 says: " He will cause all wars to cease to the extremity of the earth". And something else he says: at Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be any more the former things have passed away." That gives us a wonderful hope for the future. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We are in your neighbor all the time. Please feel free to talk with us. We would be happy to discuss with you the wonderful things his son Jesus Christ will do for mankind from God's word the Bible. May peace and comfort be with you.
