Lost contact with them 1994, when the parents moved to Saudi-Arabia. As a boy he wanted to know the meaning of my facial-scare. I remember the father Kevin, tellling me not to take that personal. My Heart felt condolence goes to the parent, may his soul R.I.P Mon, 21 Jan 2013 12:19:35 -0800 Kevin on June 12, 2012 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/nigel-d-kelly/#c77514 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/nigel-d-kelly/#c77514 I had the pleasure of meeting Nigel in the 8th grade in Brampton, Ontario, Canada just outside of his birth town. We instantly becames friends both sharing a love for the game of Basketball and hip hop music. For a final assignment we were asked to reinact and film a music video of our choice. We chose "money aint a thang" by Jay-z and JD. My fondest moment of him.Nigels time in Canada was short after leaving to California with his family. We wrote letters throughout High School and eventually through emails. Nigel came to visit me during xmas 2010 12 yrs after the 8th grade and it was as if we didn't miss a step. Iam thankful god gave me the privelage to have known such a great human being. We were 13 and instantly became friends. Over the years we stayed in touch and our friendship had the amazing capability of continuing on thru everywhere life was taking us. He was also positive and supportive of the things I was trying to achieve. Nigel- you had a wonderful heart and spirit, and I truly hope to see you again one day. The kind of gentle soul you only wish your son to grow up to be. Having sat at the dinner table with this family and knowing first hand how loving and supportive they are to everyone they meet, my heart and soul is crying. I don't feel as though I've lost a neighbor, I feel like I've lost a family member. To Kevin and Sonia, I know how proud you are of Nigel. He's a direct reflection of the two of you. Nathan, your brother was a hero and was so lucky to have a great brother like you. To Catia, may God give you the comfort you seek and great understanding. Your husband would have given you a long and happy life. Finally, to his fellow soldiers, his journey with you in Afghanistan is not over; he's now an angel watching over you until your safe return. It was an honor and a priviledge to know you Nigel. We miss you so much already. You may be gone from this earth, but you will never, ever be forgotten.
