We hung out a lot. It was nice connecting to another brother from Cali. Everyone coped with this damn deployment in one way or another. We laughed our butts off to just about everything. I connected with him. He is an amazing guy! I wish I knew him before! 217th Finance Detachment FOB Salerno 2010-2011 Wed, 19 Apr 2017 02:47:20 -0700 Daniel P. I was fortunate enough to be able to mentor Sean, due to my past experiences in law-enforcement, being a retired detective From NYPD with over 20 years of service. He trained very hard bough physically, mentally and spiritually with his guard unit in all aspects of soldiering but, in his heart he looked forward to a career in law-enforcement which I greatly encouraged . I saw it so much drive in his eyes and I was so proud to work with him . He spoke often of his mother and shared with me his beginnings in upstate New York . I will forever hold Sean in the highest place of honor as a true American hero, a great son to his mother and an awesome friend to me . Our B huts were right behind the other. He always hanged out with the other shift, 'cause they'd be off at the same time. He was rucking with guys from the other shift, as he was talking about trying to go on active duty, when the attack occurred (morning, 16 Nov 2011). We don't know if it was rockets or mortars, as the LCMR was down for maintenance. Once we heard someone was hurt, the mood changed (we were happy no one was hurt as we were 2 weeks away from leaving Clark. Thinking that was a close call.). No one told us he had passed away until it was near dusk. Now, that changed the mood from wistful hope and prayers to depression...2 weeks from leaving and ending a 12 month deployment - we were both supposed to leave at the same time (later on, I ran into members of his unit at Bagram) - and this sh*t happens. He gave his life to his country, so that others can live. I will ALWAYS remember him. "Never give up on love and make sure you tell that special person you love them before saying goodbye." I can say we both said those words to eachother before he flew to heaven . Our hearts go out to all the family members Cheryl his Mother and Ed Kochara his Father. Sean Buddy some day we will meet in Heaven and we will celebrate life together with our Heavenly Father. We love you kiddo always have and always will. Uncle Mike & Aunt Brenda I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly trod the valley of the shade? Oh! but Jesus' love illumined every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread; And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth You shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come! When my unit returned from afghanistan just before christmas, i felt guilty coming home alive for the holidays. I told my wife on Christmas, "Why should I be happy and celebrating for"? "What about Wlash's parents? " They are in mourning and so should I be." I told my wife. On Christmas day I ate lunch with my family and then went into my room and went into mourning. It is not fair that I should be happy and Walsh's parents were in mourning, so I mourned with them that day even though I never met his parents except at the yellow ribbon. I still dont feel right about enjoying my vacation with my family since Walsh's family is forever mourning. The guilt is troublesom for me. I didn't know Sean, but I'm sure he was a nice person. Dead is not easy to except. He was so young and so much to live for. The Bible tells us at Psalms 46:9 "That he (Almighty God) is making all wars to cease to the extemity of the earth". And the Bible gives us a wonderful hope for the future. At Revelation 21:4 it say: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes and death will be no more , neither will mournig nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." That gives us a wonderful hope for the future. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and when one of us knock on your door please feel free to ask anything you would like to know about this subject matter. They will be more than happy to answere from the Bible any questions you may have. I remember showing up with him at the wrong unit for our first drills as soldiers. He was a friend when I needed one. I had Lunch with him last week. All he could talk about were his plans of going home as a 21 year old man since he had spent his birthday here in Afghanistan. His cheerfulness will be missed.
