He loved me and I loved him. He was a great man. I always kept my bradley going so I could fight. I fought fiercely beside him. If I had been better, He would still be alive. I loved him like no other. He was always dirty and he was always happy. I wake up in sweats from nightmares because of my failure. i will always remember him and I think of him daily. If you ever wonder of what kind of man he was, please remember him as the best of the best. He was a loyal husband and a devote father. I remember him fondly and see his face every night. I hope that his wife and children know that he was the embodiment of all that is a hero. I owe my life to him and would proudly tell his family of his bold sacrifice. I have a wife and five children. I strive to be the best man I can be to serve his memory. We lived in germany together and he taught me what a husband and father should be. he fought with me in Iraq and showed me what a man should be. I am the man I am today because of the man he was then. To his wife and children, I admonish you to know that your father and husband was the example for all who wish to live life like it was a gift. Juan M. Garcia-Schill. That day we lost not only a great marine but an all around great person as well. I consider myself honored to know such an amazing human being and the world needs to know that he did not die in vain. He died a hero serving and protecting his country. He taught me every day is a gift and life is too short to sweat the small stuff. I do my best everyday to live by this message he gave me, some days are easier than others. If I had one wish I would turn back time and I would trade places with him. But I know if I could make that wish it wouldn't matter because he would wish the same thing and wish to sacrifice himself instead. Juan was a very deep man. He was a man of peace and a man who believed a good laugh can cure almost anything. He loved the movie Scarface and would constantly quote and impersonate Tony Montana. Juan will be forever missed but NEVER forgotten. Heres to you Garcia, RIP and I will see you on the other side. - Cpl Bremerman Wed, 23 Jan 2013 01:31:22 -0800 Leonard Cosby on October 15, 2011 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/stephen-p-saxton/#c60389 https://projects.latimes.com/wardead/name/stephen-p-saxton/#c60389 God bless you, son, and all of your family. We use to laugh at him in the motor pool because you could always tell him apart from the crowd it wasn't the fact that his face and uniform were sweaty, dirty, greasy, but by the big smile he had on his face. I respected and admired him for his commitment to his soldiers,He always said to me "ARE YOU WORKING HARD,OR HARDLY WORKING". I would just laugh and say "Not as hard as you, but i'll get their.'' To my friend, brother in arms and leader i say fair well we miss you. GOD BLESS YOU. SPC.SUAREZ JR, HUMBERTO ADA 1/3 ACR. He is such a kind person too. My step dad Mike (his brother) got in a fight with him. He decided to say sorry to him when he was coming home, but he never did. Mike was devasted. Steven has three brothers. Andrew, Peter, Micheal Saxton. I didn't see him to often but I couldn't wait to see his face when he saw his baby girl. I was there when one of his fellow fighters from war came to our house and told us the story. I sat there on my mother's lap imagining what had happened. 98% of his body was burned and he lost his leg. My mom didn't bring me to the funeral because she told me it would be to sad. A gold plaque in Pat and Oscar's in Temecula has his name on it. God Bless You Steven. - Breanna Strong (Stephen's neice) Age: 11 Tue, 08 Jul 2008 07:08:37 -0700
