Cpl. Jordan Spears, 21, was lost at sea in the Persian Gulf after bailing out of an MV-22 Osprey when the aircraft lost power and appeared in danger of crashing. Spears, who enlisted in October 2010, was on his first deployment. His death marked the first casualty from the bombing mission against Islamic militant targets in Iraq and Syria.
