In early May 2010 Cox arrived in Afghanistan for his fourth tour of duty. He died June 16 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries sustained June 14 when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire at Near Forward Operating Base, Khogyani, Afghanistan. Specialist Nathan W. Cox was posthumously promoted to Sergeant.

I don't know Nathan personally. Late last year, I had really wanted to get a Memorial Bracelet, of one of the brave, young men or women that died in great sacrifice for this country, and came across Nathan's name, read his story, and realized that he and I, well our personalities matched, and although I have never been fortunate, or lucky enough to be able to serve my country in the United States Military, I believe that Nathan and I would have had a lot in common, and would be have been great friends. His selfless sacrifice, how he cared for people, and just wanted to HELP, rings true in my life. God bless and keep the family, and friends of SPC. Nathan W. Cox, who gave his life for something he truly believed in.

I wanted to express my deepest condolences to the Cox family. The anniversary of Nathans,death is coming up. I am sure each year passes, it feels like yesterday. Thats because death is a hard thing to accept. Please be comforted by the hope of the resurrecgion at (John 5:28, 29) What a wonderful time that will be , when you hold Nathan, again! Our heavenly father Jehovah God ,purposes that all wars will cease (Psalms 46:9) and we will be able to live forever in perfection on a paradise earth with no more, sickness,sorrow,pain or death (Revelation 21:3, 4) Please be assured that Gods promises will come to pass, because when his son Jesus Christ ,was on the earth, he resurrected the dead.Jehovah , always keeps his promises.
