As a teenager, Anne Jeffreys hoped to perform in operas. Before she took the stage as a soprano, however, she was cast in the 1942 film "I Married an Angel." Shortly thereafter, Jeffreys signed a contract with RKO, where she made a number of films, including two "Dick Tracy" classics and 1945's "Zombies on Broadway."
Jeffreys moved to Broadway, performing in "Street Scene," "Kiss Me Kate" and "Three Wishes for Jamie." After fulfilling her passion for the theater, Jeffreys became a television staple and appeared in classic series that include "Bonanza," "Tarzan," "L.A. Law," and "Murder, She Wrote."
She also played David Hasselhoff's mother on "Baywatch."
Jeffreys was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1972 for the film "The Delphi Bureau" and holds the honor of being the last person to dance with Fred Astaire on screen in an episode of the original "Battlestar Galactica" series.
More recently, Jeffreys is known for her work on "General Hospital" and in "Port Charles" as Amanda Barrington. Her husband of 55 years, Robert Sterling, died in 2006. She has three sons with Sterling.
Jeffreys died Sept. 27, 2017, at her home in Brentwood. She was 94.
