Famous for his ability to mimic a variety of different voices, Bill Thompson was a radio actor, best known for his work on the NBC radio comedy "Fibber McGee and Molly."

His career began in Chicago where he played various voice parts before joining the "Fibber McGee and Molly" troupe in his twenties. In his day, he was best known to listeners for portraying such characters as Mr. Vodka, Horatio K. Boomer, Wallace Wimple, and the Old Timer.

In 1952, Thompson married Mary Margaret McBride, the daughter of cartoonist Clifford McBride who was famous for his daily comic strip, "Napoleon," in the Los Angeles Times. The couple honeymooned in Palms Springs and Vancouver, B.C. before settling down in Beverly Hills.

Thompson died a year after the release of his final acting role, "The Aristocats."
