Before he found mainstream success with the Silver Bullet Band in the mid-1970s, singer-guitarist Bob Seger was a regional cult hero, turning out hits in the Midwest and carrying the torch for the roots of rock ’n’ roll and R&B. He added sensitivity to his arsenal with the acclaimed 1975 album “Beautiful Loser,” and the following year “Live Bullet” became his first major hit.

Sparked by such singles as “Night Moves,” “Still the Same” and “Shakedown,” Seger registered seven consecutive Top 10 albums, never losing contact with his blue-collar basics. He also benefited from placement in movies (“Risky Business”) and TV commercials (Chevrolet’s “Like a Rock.”)

After an 11-year hiatus, he returned in 2006 with the album “Face the Promise.” Seger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
