Gene Vincent was the duck-tailed rock star of the late 1950s.
His sensual, heavy-breathing vocals and black leather stage costumes made him a symbol, second only to Elvis Presley for a time, of the early youth rebellion of the 1950s.
His most successful recording was "Be-Bop-A-Lula," but other records such as "Blue Jean Bop," "Lotta Lovin'," "Woman Love" and "Wear My Ring" all sold more than a million copies.
Vincent's career faded in the 1960s.
