Hank Mann
Hank Mann was a comic actor of the silent era who was known primarily for his work with the "Keystone Kops," a group of bumbling police officer characters who appeared in many of Mack Sennett's silent films.
Mann, born David Willie Lieberman on May 28, 1887, was raised primarily in New York and entered the film industry in 1912.
After numerous movies as a comic policeman and a brief time starring in his own series of comedy films, he primarily played character roles.
In 1943, he became a makeup man for other stars, notably Ernest Truex and Edward Everett Horton, and later opened a small malt shop in Sierra Madre.
But as late as 1960 he still made occasional appearances in movies.
He died at age 84 on Nov. 25, 1971, at the Braewood Convalescent Hospital in South Pasadena.
