For more than two decades Jessica Dragonette was one of the most popular (and recognizable) voices on the radio.

Dragonette, a petite soprano, was born in India and was raised in a convent after being orphaned at the age of 6.

She got her show business start with an off-stage singing role in the 1924 production of "The Miracle." She started in radio shortly after in a musical comedy hour on the NBC network.

Dragonette performed for eight years on the "Cities Service Concert" and also appeared on the "Philco Hour" and the "Ford Summer Show."

One of the most active entertainers during World War II, she was awarded the United States Treasury Silver Medal for selling war bonds and silver wings from both the Army and Navy for entertaining the troops.

Without a doubt she deserves a spot.

I was the significant other to of her neice for 28 years and was strongly related to Aunt Jess and her husband Nicholas Turner not to mention her sister Nadea and very long time friend Greta Garbo and friend Lou Dumont. Does anyone remember the animated film , and best version of Gulliver's Travels? Jessica was the speaking and singing voice of the Princess. Jessica was the great friend of Greta Garbo in New York city. They were both close great friends of the well-known nutritionist, Gaylord Houser and so many others. In the latter 1930's Jessica was the Coca-Cola girl on radio. A real dear who lived on 42 second street in a ritzy entire floor apartment NYC. Nice to know all of these people from those colorful and intellectual. talented and years.
