Big band trombonist Walter Pee Wee Hunt had the biggest-selling ragtime record ever.

Hunt's 1948 recording of "The 12th Street Rag" for Capitol Records sold 3 million copies.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Hunt also played the banjo and got his first band job at age 16.

During the big band era, he played trombone with the Paul Whiteman and Glen Gray bands.

He joined the Coast Guard during World War II and formed a band to entertain troops on Santa Catalina Island.

After the war, Hunt toured with his own orchestra.

A resident of Kingston, Mass., he died at age 72.

When I was a young girl in 1958 I toured America with a children's choir from Ireland "The Little Gaelic Singers". We sang in Green Mountain College, Poultney, Vermont and met Pee WeeHunt's daughter, Holly. She travelled around with us in our bus to several concerts. We became friendly and kept in touch for a couple of years. During the time with her we met her father but I do not remember too much about it. I would love to know where Holly is now for I often think of her. She liked to be called "Bridie" I think it made her feel Irish like one of us. Holly would have known me as Maureen McGuinness. I would love if anyone reading this knows anything about her and maybe let me know.
