Petey...that's how I referred to him. I was lucky to meet this man about 2 years ago. He became a regular poker playing friend. I learned a lot about Pete during this time. Mostly what a gentle and caring soul he had. You could rarely ever hear him say something mean or bad about another person. He talked about his family with much love and pride. I know he's going to miss them as much as they will miss him. I myself am going to find it hard to sit at a poker game and not see Pete staring me down while being in a hand with him. He'd always get some silly little grin on his face as to say "I got ya this time Ruth". To his family who I just had the pleasure of meeting a couple of weeks ago, I say, Be strong and remember the loving times you all shared together. My heart and my prayers go out to you all. Petey....it may be goodbye for now...but someday we'll play that big match together again.

With much love.

Ruth

Although I did not have any classes with him, Mr. Long was always talking to us in the hallways and was always smiling. Just last week he was telling us how much fun his new film studies class was. He was so encouraging to everyone and was always willing to stop what he was doing to talk. We all recalled a ratty old briefcase he would roll around with a squeaky wheel. While we are all devasted, we cannot help but smile when we remember all his small quirks and encouragements. He is loved and missed.

I meet Pete in a bible study group. It did not take long to know that Pete truly walks with the Lord. I learned a lot from Pete in the short time we studied together.

I pray for comfort, that only God can give, for the families that have lost a loved one.

To the Hefter family and Stephanie,
I know this has got to be the hardest thing anyone can go through. Being one of Jordan's best friends, I am here for you always and forever and I'm so sorry for your loss of your little brother. Stay strong love because you know it's what Jake would want. Seeing you and your family brought tears to my eyes, all I want is to be a help for you. I'm just a phone call away. I love you Mrs. Hefter, you're such a strong woman and I keep you and your family in my prayers. Stephanie, my dear friend, cherish those memories, never let go and stay strong. Jacob will always be with you, he truely adored you.

R.I.P. Jacob Hefter, you will be missed

My prayers thoughts are with Mr. Grace's family and the entire Roosevelt staff. Mr. Grace was a caring person who taught me how to become a real basketball player. He spent a lot of hours after school working with some of my friends and I, teaching us how to play basketball the right way. I will always remember him for his great attitude and the best jump shot I ever saw. God Bless

My prayers got out to Manuels family and loved ones. I didn't know Manuel, but I did grow up in Santa Paula, and to hear that someone from this town was taken by the teribble accident, just seems unreal. This is a real tragedy. I'm very sorry for his families loss. God Bless You.
