Lance Cpl. Jason Barfield, 22, of Ashford, Ala., died Oct. 24 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan, military officials announced. His parents told their local paper, the Dothan Eagle, that they had spoken to their son the day before his death and he was looking forward to coming back to eat his father's cooking.
