Ottolini enlisted in the National Guard when he was 17 and put in 28 years before he was killed. In civilian life he was a truck driver who hauled hay. His tour in Iraq was his first time in combat.

“

Mike was my best friend when we were in grade school in Guerneville Ca.
I spent more time at his house than I did my own . His father Daniel considered me as as one of his own ( he used to call me do berry ) along with Mike and his brothers Steven and ( little ) Danny .
We lost track of each other after my family moved to Laytonville Ca. in 1970 but my friendship for Mike and his family had lost nothing and I still to this day hold a very special feeling of love and kinship to them all.
I didn't hear of Mikes demise until sometime after the fact , and just now found out where he was laid to rest . And I intend to visit his grave and pay my respects. In closing I want to express to whom ever might read this, how lucky and proud I feel to have been a part of Mikes life .
