Charlie Sheen
Carlos Irwin Estevez (a.k.a. Charlie Sheen) first hit it big starring in back-to-back Oscar winners “Platoon” and “Wall Street,” which, at a young age, firmly established him as a serious lead actor.
Though the rakishly handsome son of acting veteran Martin Sheen went on to appear in such dramas as “Young Guns” (with brother Emilio Estevez), “Eight Men Out” and “Navy Seals,” he showed a distinct flair for comedy in “Major League” (as Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn) and the spoof “Hot Shots!,” both of which spawned sequels.
Sheen worked regularly throughout the 1990s, often in forgettable or little-seen action dramas (“Terminal Velocity” anyone?). He was better served by the Showtime telefilm “Rated X” in which he and brother Emilio reunited to play troubled porn kings Artie and Jim Mitchell.
But in 2000, a switch into series television changed Sheen’s fortunes when he replaced Michael J. Fox in the successful sitcom “Spin City.” A few years later, the actor signed on to a new sitcom, “Two and a Half Men,” which became — and still remains — one of TV’s most-watched series.
For his art-imitates-life role as that show’s freewheeling womanizer Charlie Harper, the actor has been nominated for four Emmy awards, two Golden Globes, a pair of Screen Actors Guild awards and four People’s Choice awards.
Over the years, the fast-lane living Sheen has been romantically linked with a lengthy list of women (including a few ex-porn stars), has fought high-profile battles with drug and alcohol abuse and has been implicated in several bouts of domestic violence.
Sheen has five children: Cassandra (with ex-girlfriend Paula Profit), Sam and Lola (with ex-wife Denise Richards) and twin sons, Bob and Max (with current wife Brooke Mueller).
